At the beginning of the 1980s, Natela Grigalashvili left her village for Tbilisi where she went to study. Her father died some time later and her mother left her free to live as she wished.
Natela Grigalashvili is obliged to finance her studies and can only rarely return to her native village which she misses as well as her family and particularly her mother with whom ties are gradually weakening.
Photography is then the means that Natela Grigalashvili has at her disposal to keep track of this village and the people she misses. The economic situation in Georgia is catastrophic and everything is lacking, especially photo film. It is therefore sometimes with old, expired Russian 35mm films that Natela Grigalashvili does this work.
She is the first female photojournalist in Georgia, participates in numerous juries and exhibits in many countries.
