What if the medina of Tetouan were untouched by the passage of time?

It is on the basis of this premise – this unique sense of time – that Sandrine Binoux chose to photograph one of the most iconic medinas in the Kingdom of Morocco. To do so, she chose two antique cameras, the sort

used in the early days of photography: a portable camera and a folding camera. Using them encourages one to slow down, to engage and to see things differently. The posed portraits seem almost suspended in time. Between the faces and the landscapes, a form of photography emerges, rooted in closeness, sharing and ritual.

This book is a memory in the making of this place and of those who bring it to life.
