In this photographic essay Oriane Zérah has chosen flowers as a common thread to share her vision of this country torn apart by war for more than forty years. It’s a reflection of a decade of traveling across the country, including more than six years living full-time in Kabul. Very attached to Afghanistan, she wishes to represent its people - especially its men - in an unusual and surprising way.
This project is intended to be an enchanting pictorial excursion into another Afghanistan, one that is not reduced to its tragedies. What these images want to show is the very power of roses beyond their thorns.
