Living with your back against the wall.

Men and women humiliated by life, consumed by drugs, face it head-up. They know they are being pursued by the Police, hunted by the paramilitaries, and above all, haunted by the agony that lies ahead. However, in El Cartucho, in the realm of elemental forces, something stronger erupts: a powerful desire to exist, to carry this ordeal through to the end.

Facing the camera, some of them smile even though they know the situation is absurd. One by one, lined up according to the photographer’s directions, they spring from the luminous background, enhancing shapes and colors. Upon accepting the photographer’s invitation, the outcasts reveal pride and lucidity found nowhere else but in despair.
