Ten years after the closing down of Sangatte, hundreds of men and women who had fled the war and persecutions in their country of origin, are now living in Calais in extremely precarious conditions regarding basic housing, health and legal procedures, that current immigration policies are making invisible.
The author draws portraits of Ammanuel and Haroon, two refugees from Ethiopia and Sudan that go against typical, distorted media coverage of this situation. After two years of observation in the Calais squats, she narrates their journey, their daily life, their hopes with a series of interviews and photographs.

This book was published with the support of Amnesty International and Médecins du Monde (Doctors of the World).
